Ownie Carroll (full name: Owen Thomas Carroll; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1930 until 1934 for the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds and Brooklyn Dodgers. He played for the Yankees in 1930, Reds in 1932 and Dodgers from 1933 - 1934. Over 9 seasons, he started 153 games, won 64 games, struck out 311 batters, and had a 4.43 ERA. Born on November 11, 1902 in Kearny, NJ, Carroll stood 5' 10" and weighed 165 lb. He attended St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, NJ) high school. His debut was on June 20, 1925 and he played his final game on September 21, 1934. Common misspellings of his name include Owen Ownie Thomas caroll Carroll.
