Owen Friend (full name: Owen Lacey Friend; Red) played second baseman, third baseman and shortstop from 1949 until 1955 for the St. Louis Browns, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs. He played for the Browns from 1949 - 1950, Indians in 1953, Tigers in 1953, Red Sox in 1955 and Cubs in 1955. Over 5 seasons, he played 208 games, hit 13 home runs, drove in 69 runs, and stole 2 bases. Born on March 21, 1927 in Granite City, IL, Friend stood 6' 1" and weighed 180 lb. He attended Granite City (Granite City, IL) high school. His debut was on October 2, 1949 and he played his final game on May 16, 1956.
