 Orel Hershiser is a retired professional baseball player in the Major League Baseball and is currently playing in the PokerStars. Hershiser is also serving a sports analyst for different shows including the Sunday Night Baseball of ESPN. Because of his frame, Hershiser was dubbed as “Bulldog”. Hershiser was able to cement his reputation as baseball player after he was named to his first All-Star game and finished third in the voting for the Cy Young award.

 

1988 was the best season for Hershiser after winning 23 games. Hershiser received the Cy Young award and also got his Golden Glove. The Dodgers were able to win that season’s World Series and Hershiser was named as the World Series MVP.

He played for the Dodgers from 1983 - 2000, Indians from 1995 - 1997, Giants in 1998 and Mets in 1999. Over 18 seasons, he started 466 games, won 204 games, struck out 2014 batters, and had a 3.48 ERA. Born on September 16, 1958 in Buffalo, NY, Hershiser stands 6' 3" and weighs 190 lb. He attended East (Cherry Hill, NJ) high school and was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 17th round of the 1979 amateur draft. His debut was on September 1, 1983 and he played his final game on June 26, 2000. Over his career, Hershiser made $37,582,001.
