Nelson Emerson is a former professional ice hockey right winger in the National Hockey League. He was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the third round, 44th pick overall, of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. He made his professional debut with the Blues’ IHL affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen in the 1990-91 season. He joined the Blues in the 1991-92 season and later signed with the Winnipeg Jets before the 1993-94 season. Before the 1995-96 season, Emerson signed with the Hartford Whalers and stayed with the team until it became the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997. He then became part of the Chicago Blackhawks and was later traded to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Chris Murray. He also played 58 games with the Atlanta Thrashers and was traded late in the season, along with Kelly Buchberger, to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Donald Audette and Frantisek Kaberle. Emerson retired following the 2001-02 season, the same season when the Kings traded Jozef Stumpel and Glen Murray to the Boston Bruins. Current team roster includes right wing Dustin Brown.
