Neil Wilkinson is a retired Canadian pro ice hockey athlete who played as defense for the Minnesota North Stars, San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets and the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League. Wilkinson was born on August 15, 1967 in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada and took his college education when he attended the Michigan State University where he also played college hockey. Wilkinson played with Michigan State for his lone 1986-87 seasons where he was a notable player during his college career.
After playing for a single season with the Michigan State, Wilkinson decided to join the Western Hockey League playing for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 1987 seasons and for the Kalamazoo Wings of the International Hockey League for two seasons in 1988 and 1989. Following this, Wilkinson, being a right handed shooter stands 6 ft. 3 in. and weighs in at 180 lbs., started his pro hockey career after he was drafted out from the minor hockey league by the Minnesota North Stars before the beginning of the 1989 seasons.
Wilkinson played with Minnesota until 1992 after he was dealt to the San Jose Sharks before he joined other teams in the league and had his final season in 1999 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
