One of the most accomplished women in the golf history, Nancy Lopez was born in Torrance, California on January 6, 1967.
At the age of 12, she already had victories in her career. She won the New Mexico Women’s Amateur and again grabbed another triumph in 1972 and 1974 when she won twice the U.S. Girl’s Junior Championship. In 1975, Lopez had climbed up the ladder of success and won for three times the Western Junior and the Mexican Amateur. In 1976, she was already a member of the U.S. Curtis Cup and the World Amateur teams. In her amateur years, she was named to the 1976 All- American and the university’s Female Athlete of the Year.
Nancy had accomplished a lot of victories in her golf career; to start with, she was named to be the Rookie of the Year on the LPGA Tour. At the same season, she had won nine tournaments and was then named also to be the Player of the Year. For two times in 1972 and 1974, Lopez won the United States Girls Junior Amateur Golf Championship. In the year 1987, she was inaugurated in the World Golf Hall of Fame. With a total of 48 official LPGA tournaments and 4 unofficial events, Lopez was said to won those. She served the United States Solheim Cup team as a member in 1990 and 2005 and became the captain in 2005.
