A retired American boxer and a former World Heavyweight Champion, Muhammad Ali was born as Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. in Louisville, Kentucky, USA on January 17, 1942.
In the 1960 Olympics in Rome, Ali went to win 6 Kentucky Golden Gloves titles, 2 national Golden Gloves Title, an Amateur Athletic Union National Title and the Light Heavyweight gold medal that led to the recognition of Muhammad Ali signed lighting Olympic torch 16x20 photos. He won his first professional fight on October 29, 1960. He defeated the boxers such as Tony Esperti, Jim Robinson, Donnie Fleeman from 1960- 1963. In 1963, his fight was named the “Fight of the Year” he won a clashed with 10 round decision over Doug Jones. He became the contender for Sonny Liston’s title despite the close calls. In 1966, he was reclassified 1A after he failed the Armed Forces qualifying test. Ali defended his title against Zorra Fooley nine times in March 1967. This happened after his rematch with Liston in May 1965.
Ali’s fight in Madison Square Garden on March 8, 1971 against Frazier was one of the most eagerly anticipated bouts of all time and remains as one of the most famous fights. This was known as “The Fight of the Century”. He regained his title on October 30, 1974. He defeated the champion named George Foreman. In 1981, Ali permanently retired from his boxing career.
