Muddy Ruel (full name: Herold Dominic Ruel; no nicknames) played catcher from 1931 until 1934 for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Browns and Chicago White Sox. He played for the Tigers from 1931 - 1932, Red Sox in 1931, Browns in 1933 and White Sox in 1934. Over 19 seasons, he played 1468 games, hit 4 home runs, drove in 494 runs, and stole 61 bases. Born on February 20, 1896 in St. Louis, MO, Ruel stood 5' 9" and weighed 150 lb. He attended Soldan (St. Louis, MO) (All Transactions) high school. His debut was on May 29, 1915 and he played his final game on August 25, 1934. Common misspellings of his name include Herold Dominic Muddy Ruel.
