About Moose Haas Memorabilia & Collectibles
Bryan Edmund Haas is a retired baseball player who was born on April 22, 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland. He played in the Major League Baseball as a pitcher for a few teams including the Milwaukee Brewers and the Oakland Athletics. A right-handed batter and thrower, he had his Major League Baseball debut on September 8, 1976 for the Milwaukee Brewers.
He played in the 1982 World Series for the Milwaukee Brewers. Haas once held a record for the most number of strikeouts in one game when he made 14 strikeouts while playing for the Brewers. The franchise record lasted for 26 years until Ben Sheets surpassed his record.
Known as “Moose Haas”, he got his nickname after an incident with a 12 foot tall moose in Appalachian mountains. Haas was having his vacation at the said location when he had a run-in with the creature which he captured at the end. He hung the moose’s head in his dining room as a remembrance of his encounter with this animal.
He stayed in the Major Baseball League from 1976 to 1987 and also worked as a magician, a taekwondo black belter and a locksmith. His last MLB appearance was on June 19, 1987 for the Oakland Athletics and left with a career record of 100-83 win-loss ratio, 853 strikeouts and 4.01 earned run average.
