Mike Woodson is a former American pro basketball athlete who played as both guard and forward for the New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets, Kansas City Kings, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis and then took his higher education attending the Indiana University.
Woodson’s pro basketball career began after he was drafted by the New York Knicks during the 1980 NBA draft where he was the first round pick of the team. Woodson played for two seasons with the Knicks before he joined the Nets at the end of the 1981 seasons and played until 1982. After which he played for the Kings at the start of the 2003 seasons. Woodson played for four seasons with the Kings. And joined several other teams thereafter, having his final season in 1991 with the Cavaliers.
After his retirement from his playing career in the NBA, Woodson served as assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks for three years which began in 1996. Woodson later served in the coaching staff of Cleveland before being invited to join Brown's staff of the Hawks. Woodson had served as head coach for the Atlanta Hawks for six seasons.

Mike Woodson (full name: Michael Dean Woodson; Mike) played Guard-Forward from 1981 until 1991 for the New York Knickerbockers, New Jersey Nets, Kansas City Kings, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers. Over 11 seasons, he played 786 games, scored 10981 points (14.0 ppg) and grabbed 1838 rebounds (2.3 rpg). Woodson also dished out 1822 assists (2.3 apg), made 952 steals (1.2 spg), and blocked 275 shots (0.3 bpg) during his career. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 24, 1958, Woodson stands 6-5 and weighs 195 lbs. He attended high school at Broad ripple in Indianapolis, Indiana and college at Indiana University. He was drafted by the New York Knickerbockers in the 1st round (12th pick, 12th overall) of the 1980 NBA draft.
