Mike Vanderjagt is a former American professional football player in the National Football League. He was born in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Vanderjagt played as kicker for numerous teams in three different leagues; the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Tampa Bay Storm, Toronto Argonauts, Indianapolis Colts and the Dallas Cowboys. Vanderjagt took his college education from three different schools; Michigan State University, Allan Hancock Community College and West Virginia University. He began playing college football as a quarterback in Michigan State University.
Vanderjagt was listed at 6 ft. 5 in. and 211 lbs. Before joining the National Football League, after his graduation at Wet Virginia University in 1993, he came back to Canada and started a career in the Canadian Football League and later the American Football League. Between 1993 and 1996, Vanderjagt played for three teams in the Canadian League. He had a short playing time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders during the 1993 seasons.
In 1998, Vanderjagt made it to the National Football league playing as kicker for the Indianapolis Colts up until the end of the 2005 seasons. During the 2006 offseason, after becoming free agent, the Colts voted not to renegotiate a contract extension for Vanderjagt. After which he was acquired by the Dallas Cowboys in the same year and played for two seasons before returning to the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian League playing for one season before his retirement.
