Michael Jermaine Rumph is a former professional American football player. He is from Delray Beach, Florida and was born on November 8, 1979. He finished high school at the Atlantic Community High School and there was a part of the SuperPrep National Top 50 Players and a SuperPrep All- American selection. Aside from football, he also played track and was a star in that sport as well.

 

Rumph played for the University of Miami during his collegiate career. He was a calm but dynamic player and helped the team clinch a National Championship during his senior year. He was then selected by the San Francisco 49ers as the 27th overall pick in the 1st round of the 2002 National Football League Entry Draft. His 1st game for the 49ers was on August 3, 2002 in a loss against the Washington Redskins. He missed most of the 2004 and 2005 seasons due to injury and in 2006 was traded off to the Red Skins. He achieved his first win for Washington on September 24, 2006 in a game against the Houston Texans. After being released by Washington on December 2006, he signed with the St. Louis Rams in 2007. He was eventually released a few months after and retired on July 2008. He had a career total of 138 tackles, 2.0 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 3 interceptions.

He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1st round (27th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft.
