Mike Richards is a professional hockey player who hails from Kenora, Ontario. He began showing interest in the sport as a young child and has played for the Kenora Thistles. He had his junior hockey league experience in the Ontario Hockey League team the Kitchener Rangers which drafted him in the Priority Selection of the Ontario Hockey League in 2001. According to reviews, he was a strong player in the team and had made great contributions for them. He bagged the Memorial Cup in 2003 and had recorded the highest number of scored in the league with 87 points. That year also, he was drafted in the National Hockey League Entry Draft in the 2003 season. He joined the Philadelphia Flyers but did not immediately play for the team and instead, spent two more seasons in the Kitchener Rangers.
He played for the Philadelphia Flyers minor league team, the Philadelphia Phantoms. He was part of the team’s appearance in the Calder Cup Championship in the 2005 season.
His debut game in the National Hockey League came in 2005 and had his first game on October 5, 2005. His first season in the NHL was marked by 34 points and appeared in 79 games that year. He became part of the Eastern Conference for the All-Star Game of the league in Atlanta.
