Mike Ramsey, born as Michael Allan Ramsey, is a former National Hockey League player who hails from Minnesota. He started his ice hockey career as a player in Theodore Roosevelt High School and had his college hockey experience at University of Minnesota. He participated in U.S. National Junior Camp in 1978. He also played for the U.S. Hockey Team and was part of the team’s gold medal win in the Winter Olympics of the 1980 season.
He started his professional hockey career as an 11th pick of the Buffalo Sabres. He was selected by the team during the National Hockey League Draft in 1979. He played as part of the team’s defense and sources say he was one of the finest players the team has had. He was able to participate in All-Star Games in the NHL for four times. He was also part of the so called Rendez-Vous ’87 who played in the Soviet national hockey team.
As part of the U.S. National Hockey team, he competed in the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1984 as well as in the 1987 Canada Cup.
He also became part of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings. After playing for two games in the 1996 season, he went to retirement and opened his sporting goods business in Minnesota.

Mike Ramsey (full name: Mike Ramsey; no nicknames) played defenseman from 1980 until 1997 for the Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. He played for the Sabres from 1980 - 1993, Penguins from 1993 - 1994 and Red Wings from 1995 - 1997. Over 18 seasons, he played 1070 games, scored 79 goals, and made 266 assists. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 3, 1960, Ramsey stands 6-3 and weighs 195 lbs. He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1st round (11th overall) of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft.
