Mike Pruitt is a former American football player. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. Pruitt attended Purdue University for his college education where he also played college football.
Pruitt started his professional career in the National Football League when he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 1976. He was the 1st round pick of the team in the 1976 NFL Draft. He was listed at 6 ft. and 222 lbs., and played as a running back. During his professional football career Pruitt played eleven seasons from 1976 to 1986. He spent eight years on the Browns from 1976 to 1984 according to one sports review. Then in 1985 he joined the Buffalo Bills and shortly after, in the same year, he joined the Kansas City Chiefs until his retirement in 1986. Pruitt was also a two time Pro Bowler in 1979 and 1980. Throughout his entire professional football career, Pruitt played in 152 games, rushing for 1,844, carries for 7,378 yards and 56 combined touchdowns and is at this time 43rd all time in rushing yards.
Currently, driven by his entrepreneurial passion, Mike Pruitt owns a Ford dealership in Lima and currently owns a Honda dealership in Akron both in the State of Ohio.
