 Mike Pelfry is a professional baseball player and is currently in the starting roster of the New York Mets. Pelfry is a right-handed pitcher and is often referred as Big Pelf. Pelfry went to Wichita State University and entered the 2005 amateur draft after foregoing his last year in college. Pelfry was selected by the New York Mets and was assigned to the St. Lucie Mets where he gave up a 1.64 earned run average and was promoted to the Binghamton Mets. Part of Pelfry’s pitching selection is a curveball, a slider, a changeup and a fastball.

 

Pelfry was able to break into the Mets roster during the 2006 season. Pelfry’s first game was against the Florida Marlins wherein the Mets won with a 17-3 score. After a shaky performance during the start of the 2007 season, Pelfry was assigned to the New Orleans Zephyrs. However, he was able to return to the majors during the later part of the season.

 

In 2008, Pelfry was able to start the season with a win against the Philadelphia Phillies. He also pitched a shutout during a game against the Washington Nationals. Pelfry also recorded a streak when he faced 243 batters and never gave up a homerun.
