A Major League starting pitcher that currently playing with the New York Yankees, Michael Mussina was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on December 8, 1968.
His accomplishments in his football career started in his high school years in Montoursville, Pennsylvania. Mussina sets records for field goals, extra points and touchdowns receptions in his football team that enabled him to play for three positions. In 1990 amateur draft, he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1st round. His first full season with the team was in 1992. With the percentage of .783, win or lose, he led the American League. Mussina helped the playoffs of the Orioles in 1996. In the 1999 AL, was his third best win-lose percentage. As free agent, he leaved the Orioles following the 2000 season and signed for the New York Yankees on November 30, 2000. He was seventh in the AL strikeouts in 2005 season.
He had able to finished with a record of 13-8 and 4.41 ERA. In the course of 2006 season, Mussina was on the all-time win list. He is 54th among the 239 wins. All through his football career, he has become a skillful pitcher. Though never in his career that he won 20 games in a season but he had able to won 19 twice and 18 three times. He also reached the World Series twice and was placed in the top five of the Cy Young award six times.
