Michael Thomas Heath is a retired professional baseball player who appeared in the Major Baseball League. Known as Mike Heath, he was born on February 5, 1955 in Tampa Florida. He started playing in the Major Baseball League in 1973 when the New York Yankees selected him as a 2nd round pick in the 1973 MLB Draft. His first appearance on the league was on June 3, 1978 for the Yankees. That year, he recorded .228 batting average and played 33 games. He played for the 1978 World Series in one game. According to reviews, aside from being a catcher, he also played as a shortstop and other positions except pitching. He appeared in 1,083 games as a catcher, 79 games in left field and 38 games as a third base. He played 142 games in the right field and was a designated hitter for 38 games. He moved to the Oakland Athletics on November 10, 1978 via trade for Dave Righetti. He spent seven seasons with the Athletics and participated in the 1981 American League Championship Series where he batted .333 for the Oakland Athletics.
