Michael William Hampton is a professional baseball player who is currently in the Major Baseball League. He was born on September 9, 1972 in Brooksville, Florida, and is a right-handed batter and throws with his left. The Seattle Mariners drafted him in 1990 but first appeared in the Major Baseball League in 1993. According to reviews, he had an unsatisfactory beginning in the league and was soon traded to the Houston Astros.

 

Hampton played as a starter with the Astros and had his best career season with the team in 1999. In that year, he recorded 22-4 and an ERA of 2.90, which were both one of the best in the National League. That year, he also received his very first Silver Slugger Award and ranked second in the National League Cy Young Award.
