A former Italian -American ice hockey player, Michael “Ritz” Eruzione was born on October 25, 1954. He has been the captain of the national team of United States during the 1980 Winter Olympics. It was their team which defeated the favored Soviet Union in the popular Miracle on Ice game.
A native of Winthrop, Massachusetts, Eruzione has learned playing hockey when he played for the Youth Hockey of Winthrop which was part of the Greater Boston Youth Hockey League (GBYHL). He was a graduate of the Winthrop Senior High School in the year 1972 wherein during his senior year, he was the varsity’s hockey team captain. And to tune his hockey skills well, he had spent a single year at the Berwick Academy. After it, he has starred for the Boston University wherein in every season in his entire four years, he had an average of more than twenty goals. He has also played for the Team USA during the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1975 and 1976. Then, he moved to International Hockey League’s Toledo Goaldiggers.
In his many years of being a professional hockey player, he has received so many awards and achievements in his field, just like Tony Stewart. When he scored the winning goal during the 1980 Olympic Game against the Soviets, Eruzione became more popular and many fans admired him for his performance during what is known as Miracle on Ice.
