Mickey Wright is a former professional golf player who hailed from San Diego, California. Wright took her college education when she attended Stanford University and played for the university’s golf team. Wright however, left the institution before graduation. Wright won her first important title which is the 1952 U.S. Girls' Junior Golf Championship. Wright joined the U.S. Women's Amateur in 1954, but, Wright unluckily lost in the final. Despite of his defeat in the U.S. Women's Amateur, Wright was able to emerge victorious in the 1954 World Amateur Championship and turned professional in the later part of 1954.
Wright had a modest start upon turning professional in 1954, with her career came into fast track at the start of 1958 when she first won her first Ladies Professional Golf Association Championship against Fay Crocker of Greece. Wright later on won three more LPGA Championships in 1960 and 1961 against fellow American Louise Suggs, and in 1963 against Louise Suggs, Mary Lena Faulk and Mary Mills. Wright also won her first U.S. Women's Open in 1958 and his second in 1959 defeating Louise Suggs. She won another U.S. Women's Open in 1961 beating Betsy Rawls. Wright retired in 1969 and now resides in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
