A former Major League Baseball player from 1970-1984, Mickey Rivers was born in Miami, Florida, USA on October 31, 1948.
He began his big league career in 1970 with the Angels. Originally, he signed by the Atlanta Braves and was known as “Mick the Quick”. In 1975, he led the league in triples both years and swiped a career-high 70 bases and was top in the American League. He was dealt with Ed Figueroa for Bobby Bonds to the Yankees in the 1975-1976 off-seasons. He batted .312, stole 43 bases and posted then a career-highs in 8 powerful home runs and 67 runs batted. In The Sporting News AL All-Star Team he was also named an outfielder and a third placer in the Most Valuable Player.
He had a .326 batting average in 1977 and posted a good numbers in his two other full seasons.
