Mickey McDermott (full name: Maurice Joseph McDermott; Maury) played pitcher from 1948 until 1961 for the Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators, New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics, Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the Red Sox from 1948 - 1953, Senators from 1954 - 1955, Yankees in 1956, Athletics from 1957 - 1961, Tigers in 1958 and Cardinals in 1961. Over 12 seasons, he started 156 games, won 69 games, struck out 757 batters, and had a 3.91 ERA. Born on April 29, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, NY, McDermott stood 6' 2" and weighed 170 lb. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic (Elizabeth, NJ) high school. His debut was on April 24, 1948 and he played his final game on August 10, 1961.
