About Michael Wuertz Memorabilia & Collectibles

Michael Wuertz is an American professional baseball athlete who once played in the Chicago Cubs and is currently lined up as pitcher for the Oakland Athletics in the Major League Baseball. Wuertz was born on December 15, 1978 in Austin, Minnesota and graduated from Austin High School. Wuertz, who stand 6 ft. 3 in. and weighs 225 lbs. and both batted and threw with his right, began his pro baseball career after he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs during the 1997 amateur draft being the eleventh round pick of the team, formally signing on August 18, 1997.

Before he was allowed to play in the major leagues, Wuertz spent the 1997 up to 2003 seasons playing in the minors. Wuertz made his major league debut on April 5, 2004 in their match against the Cincinnati Reds where he threw a 1-2-3 inning and one strikeout. Wuertz had an impressive career with the Cubs having an average of one strikeout per innings and a roughly eight hits every nine innings. Wuerz played for five years with the Cubs from his debut in 2004 up to 2009 when he was dealt by the Cubs to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for Justin Sellers and Richie Robnett in February 2.
