About Michael Waltrip Memorabilia & Collectibles
Brother to retired NASCAR champion Darrell Waltrip, Michael Curtis Waltrip was born on April 30, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky and owns the Michael Waltrip Racing while driving part time. He also serves as a commentator in Speed TV’s Camping World Truck coverage and works as analyst in “Inside NASCAR” together with Chris Myers, Brad Daugherty, and Randy Pemberton.
He has 2 Daytona 500 titles in his win column. Waltrip started his career in 1981 when he won the championship of the Mini- Modified version division of the Kentucky Motor Speedway. His first major Cup race came in 1985 when he joined the Coca Cola 600. He participated in several races all throughout the 1980s including the Busch Series. In 1990, he was involved in a car wreck while driving the Pontiac which he drives for the Busch Series. This wreck was featured in the 2008 NAPA Auto Parts commercial.
In the 1990s, Walton joined different racing teams such as the Buhari team and Wood Brothers Racing and participated in events such as the Winston Open. By 2001, he was able to capture the Daytona 500 Cup. Sadly, this was after his boss’s, Dale Earnhardt, death. Walton raced against Earnhardt’s son in Pepsi 400 where he placed 24th.
He put up his own team by 2007 and was involved in several scandals. The year proved to be a bad one for Waltrip when he was involved in another car accident because of falling asleep while driving.
Waltrip was also involved in several fights with other racers including the fight he had with Jeff Green and Robby Gordon, which both happened in 2005. The fight with Gordon helped them raise funds for the employees of Harrah that were victims of hurricane Katrina.
Be awestruck with Waltrip’s heart racing driving skills and collect his framed NASCAR photos, plaques, and collages, signed tickets, cards, and autographed NASCAR photos.
