Michael Finley is a professional basketball player and is now playing in the NBA for the Boston Celtics. Prior to going professional, Finley attended the Proviso East High School and won the 1991 IHSA class AA boys basketball tournament in his senior year. He decided to enroll in the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was chosen by the Phoenix Suns during the 1995 NBA Draft.

 

His first year in the NBA proved to be a very successful one with him being selected for the NBA All-Rookie First Team. By the end of that season, he made an average of 15 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists for every game. He was able to make 1,000 points in that season.

 

Finley was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 1996. He was selected to the 2000 All-Star Game. He made 11 points in that game.

 

He became an unrestricted free agent in the 2005 and decided to sign with the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs, together with Finley, was able to clinch the 2007 NBA Championship.

 

Finley signed a deal with the Boston Celtics in 2010.

He attended high school at Proviso East in Maywood, Illinois and college at University of Wisconsin. He was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 1st round (21st pick, 21st overall) of the 1995 NBA draft.
