Mel Counts (full name: Mel Grant Counts; Goose) played Center-Forward from 1965 until 1976 for the Boston Celtics, Baltimore Bullets, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Jazz. Over 12 seasons, he played 789 games, scored 6516 points (8.3 ppg) and grabbed 4756 rebounds (6.0 rpg). Counts also dished out 1100 assists (1.4 apg), made 85 steals (0.1 spg), and blocked 74 shots (0.1 bpg) during his career. Born in Coos Bay, Oregon on October 16, 1941, Counts stands 7-0 and weighs 230 lbs. He attended high school at Marshfield in Coos Bay, Oregon and college at Oregon State University. He was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 1st round (7th pick, 7th overall) of the 1964 NBA draft.
