Max Butcher (full name: Albert Maxwell Butcher; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1936 until 1945 for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Dodgers from 1936 - 1938, Phillies from 1938 - 1939 and Pirates from 1939 - 1945. Over 10 seasons, he started 228 games, won 95 games, struck out 485 batters, and had a 3.73 ERA. Born on September 21, 1910 in Holden, WV (All Transactions), Butcher stood 6' 2" and weighed 220 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on April 20, 1936 and he played his final game on September 11, 1945. Common misspellings of his name include Albert Max Maxwell Butcher.
