Maurice Richard, born as Joseph Henri Richard, was a former National Hockey League player who was born on August 4, 1921. Famously known by the nickname “The Rocket”, he started playing in the National Hockey League in the 1942 season for the Montreal Canadiens. According to many reviews, he was one of the best players in the league who have recorded high goals per season. In 50 games, he was able to make 50 goals, a feature which became the first in his time. He was also regarded as the first National Hockey League player who has logged a total of 500 goals in a professional hockey career. His last season in the league came in 1960 and he wrapped up his celebrated NHL career with 544 goals made in the regular seasons and 82 goals in the playoffs. He logged the highest number of goals in the league for five times during his career and recorded 421 assists. He made an amazing 965 points in his entire career and has appeared for the Canadiens in 978 games in the league. As a great right wing player, he bagged the Stanley Cup eight times in his whole stay in NHL and bagged the Hart Trophy in 1947. He is also included in the Hockey Hall of Fame for his outstanding career in the league.

Over 18 seasons, he played 978 games, scored 544 goals, and made 421 assists. Born in Montreal, Quebec on August 4, 1921, Richard stood 5-10 and weighed 170 lbs. He was inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame as Player in 1961.
