Matty Alou (full name: Mateo Rojas Alou; no nicknames) played outfielder and first baseman from 1960 until 1974 for the San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees and San Diego Padres. He played for the Giants from 1960 - 1965, Pirates from 1966 - 1970, Cardinals from 1971 - 1973, Athletics in 1972, Yankees in 1973 and Padres in 1974. Over 15 seasons, he played 1667 games, hit 31 home runs, drove in 780 runs, and stole 156 bases. Born on December 22, 1938 in Haina, Distrito Nacional, D.R., Alou stands 5' 9" and weighs 160 lb. He attended Santo Domingo (Santo Domingo, DO) high school. His debut was on September 26, 1960 and he played his final game on June 21, 1974. Over his career, Alou made $240,000.
