A Major League Baseball player, Matt Stairs who plays for the Toronto Blue Jays was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada on February 27, 1968.

 

At the early young age, Stairs already showed his big interest in playing baseball. He then played for the Marysville team at the age of 16. He was then voted Rookie of The Year. Fortunately, Stairs was the Most Valuable Player of the Year in the League in 1977. He played at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea when he decided to join the Canadian Junior National team. Stairs was also named to the World All- Star team when he got the chance to play for Canada during the World Amateur Championships in Italy. He had led his team in hitting the Eastern League in 1991 MVP. In 1995, he was invited by the Oakland Athletics in 1995 and he has accepted the invitation.

 

He recorded six runs in one inning and tied in a Major League Baseball and instantly adheres to the elite circle. He was traded with the Chicago Cubs after playing four more seasons with the Athletics on November 20, 2000 wherein he hit 122 home runs and drove in 315 RBIs. Stairs was the team’s designated hitter at the World Baseball Classic for Canada and in the 2006 season, he was then traded from the Kansas City Royals to the Rangers.
