Matthew George Goukas Jr., known as Matt Goukas, was born on February 25m 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a professional National Basketball Association player who later on became a coach for NBA teams as well. A 6 ft., 185 lbs. American cagier, he attended Saint Joseph’s College and was drafted to the league in 1966 as a 9th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers. In that team, he played with Hal Greer, Billy Cunningham, Wilt Chamberlain and Chet Walker. In 1967, the team was bale to defeat then defending champion, Boston Celtics.
Reviews say he also played for Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, Buffalo Braves, Kansas City Kings and Cincinnati Royals. He was able to rank 2nd in the National Basketball Association in the highest field goal percentage when he recorded a 0.570 mark during the 1973-1973 seasons. With his father Matt Goukas Sr., they were able to make a record of the first father and son tandem to win NBA Championships.
After retiring from being a player in 1976, he coached NBA teams Sixers and Orlando Magic. Currently, he is a TV commentator on FS Florida and Sun Sports. Together with him on the said shows is David Steele.
