Matt Alexander (full name: Matthew Alexander; no nicknames) played pinch runner, outfielder and third baseman from 1973 until 1981 for the Chicago Cubs, Oakland Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Cubs from 1973 - 1974, Athletics from 1975 - 1977 and Pirates from 1978 - 1981. Over 9 seasons, he played 374 games, hit 0 home runs, drove in 111 runs, and stole 103 bases. Born on January 30, 1947 in Shreveport, LA, Alexander stands 5' 11" and weighs 168 lb. He attended Bethune (Shreveport, LA) high school and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 2nd round of the 1968 amateur draft. His debut was on August 23, 1973 and he played his final game on October 3, 1981. Common misspellings of his name include Matt Matthew alaxander Alexander.
