Marvin Williams is an American pro basketball athlete who is currently playing as forward for the Atlanta Hawks in the National Basketball Association. He was born in Bremerton, Washington and took his college education when he attended the University of North Carolina located in Chapel Hill, where as a freshman, Williams was an essential part of the North Carolina in the 2004-2005 national championship basketball team, having an average of eleven points and almost seven rebounds per game.
Williams was recognized for his efforts in his college career when he was named as an Honorable Mention to the All-ACC team. Following his completion of one season with North Carolina, Williams had himself declared eligible for the 2005 NBA Draft. He was then drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft. Williams made an extravagant performance in his rookie season and was selected to the 2005-06 seasons All NBA Rookie Second Team.
As the Hawks reached the NBA playoffs, in their Game 7 against the Boston Celtics, Williams was ejected for two flagrant fouls on Rajon Rondo, resulting in his suspension for the first two games of the NBA 2008-09 Season. Williams and the Hawks reached an agreement for a five-year contract on July 2009.
