Marvin Webster, nicknamed “Marvin the Magnificent,” is a former American professional basketball player. He was born on April 13, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from Edmondson High School located in Baltimore. He took his college studies when he attended the Morgan State University. Throughout his nine season career in the National Basketball Association, Webster played as center for several teams in the league; the Denver Nuggets, Seattle SuperSonics, New York Knicks and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Webster was listed at 7 ft. 1 in. and 225 lbs. He began his professional career in the National Basketball Association after he was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks during the 1975 NBA draft where he was a first round pick of the team. During his 1975–76 NBA rookie season, Webster was diagnosed with hepatitis, and manage to participate in only 38 games.

Due to his immense stature, Webster was able to aid the Nuggets to win the NBA Midwest Division 1976-77 NBA seasons and the SuperSonics for the 1977-78 NBA Western Conference title. Webster’s best season was during his single year with Seattle, in which he got an average of fourteen points, twelve rebounds, and two blocks per game. Marvin Webster passed away at the age of 56 after he was found dead on April 4, 2009 in a Tulsa, Oklahoma hotel room. Sources say that Webster allegedly died due to coronary artery disease.
