About Marvin Freeman Memorabilia & Collectibles

Marvin Freeman is a major league baseball player who became active from 1986 to 1996. He was a pitcher and is best remembered for his physique. He stood 6 feet and 6 inches but he only weighed 180 lbs giving him a very thin appearance. For that, he earned the nickname “Starvin’ Marvin”.

His MLB career took off after he was called up by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1986. During that season he was able to record a 2.25 ERA. In the 1988, he was able to pitch a no-hitter in a game against Richmond while playing for the Maine Guides in the International League.

He was traded in 1990 to the Atlanta Braves in 1990. He was the team’s relief pitcher and was with the franchise the entire that it went from a mediocre to great. A huge part of his pitching selection is his split-fingered fastball.

Freeman signed with the Colorado Rockies in 1994 and was able to earn a spot as a starting pitcher in the team. He was able to record a 2.80 ERA which was the second best for that season. Greg Maddux was the league leader.

He announced his retirement in 1996 after suffering elbow injuries.
