Martell Webster is an American professional basketball player currently playing as forward and guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association. He was born in Edmonds, Washington and is a graduate of Seattle Preparatory School located in Capitol Hill, Seattle where he also played college basketball and averaged twenty seven points and ten rebounds in every game during his senior years. Webster is 6 ft. 7 in. and 235 lbs. He began his professional basketball career after he was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2005 NBA Draft where he was the first round pick of the team. Following the draft, Webster was assigned in the NBA Development League by the Blazers to the Fort Worth Flyers of the in January 2006.
He returned later to the Trail Blazers the following month. Watson scored a season high of twenty six points in January 2008 with their win against the Utah Jazz. After his contract expiration with the Trail Blazers, Webster signed for a four-year contract extension in October 2008. Watson however, missed the rest of the 2008–09 NBA seasons due to a left foot injury, having only played 5 minutes during the season. Watson scored a career high twenty eight points in their win over the Detroit Pistons on January 2010. Webster was then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on June 24, 2010.
