A multi-awarded athlete, Mark Recchi is a National Hockey League player who is currently part of the Boston Bruins. He hails from Kamloops, British Columbia and started his hockey career as a junior hockey player in the Western Hockey League. He began playing professionally after he was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League Draft in 1988. While playing with the Penguins, he became an instrumental player in the Stanley Cup performance of the team. After he spent his first rookie season with the Penguins, he played for the Philadelphia Flyers after being traded to the team. He spent the 1992 to 1995 seasons with the mentioned team and recorded 53 goals and 123 points. After his stint with the Flyers, he joined the Montreal Canadiens but was immediately traded back to the Philadelphia Flyers.
He became a runner-up in the Most Valuable Player award of the National Hockey League Players Association in 2000. That same year, he was honored as the Male Athlete of the Century in Kamloops and even named a street after him. In his entire NHL career, he has played in a number of All-Star games and had two Stanley Cup championships. As a member of the Boston Bruins at present, he also serves as an alternate captain of the team.
