 Born on April 11, 1966 in Owensboro, Kentucky, Mark Deyon Higgs is a former National Football League player who became Miami Dolphins’ lead rusher in the 1991 to 1993 seasons. Although industry experts say his 5 ft. 7 in. height does not fit football, he managed to prove his football aptitude in Owensboro High School where he broke rushing yards records. He played college football at University of Kentucky and was inducted to the University of Kentucky Hall of Fame in 2005. He was the number one Best Average per Rushing Attempt with 5.43 and the #9 Most All-Purpose Yardage with 3,387.

 

His professional career started when he joined the Dallas Cowboys which picked him from round eight of the 1988 NFL Draft. He appeared in five games for the Cowboys and later on joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 1990 as a free agent. He became a replacement for the then injured Sammie Smith as a starter. He also played for the Arizona Cardinals.

 

As part of the Miami Dolphins, he led the team in rushing and became the ninth NFL lead rusher in 1992. He was the eighth player in the Most 100 yard rushing games. He recorded 2, 959 rushing yards and averaged 3.7 in his entire career and made 14 touchdowns.
