Mark Hardy is a retired professional ice hockey player and has skated in the rink for a total of twelve seasons. He became active in the NHL from 1979 all the way to the 1994. Although he was born in Switzerland, Hardy was raised in Montreal. He played in the Montreal Juniors hockey team together with fellow player Denis Savard.
Hardy participated in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft and was picked by the Los Angeles Kings, making him the 30th overall pick. He played for the Binghamton Dusters in the QMJHL before appearing in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings in 1979.
During his first rookie year, the defenseman was able to appear in 77 games and scored a total of 25 points. His best offensive season was in 1984 after he was able to appear in 79 games, make 15 goals and score a total of 53 points.
Hardy signed with the New York Rangers in 1989 and helped the team get to the Stanley Cup finals during the 1992-93 season. His last appearance in the NHL was in the 1992 season and retired from playing professionally after the 1997-98 season. He served as the assistant coach for the Kings after retirement.

Born in Samedan, Switzerland on February 1, 1959, Hardy stands 5-11 and weighs 195 lbs. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2nd round (30th overall) of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft.
