Luther Head is presently playing for the Indiana Pacers in the National Basketball Association. He is the shooting guard for the team and was born in Chicago, Illinois. He went to Manley Academy and was part of the high school basketball team. Head had a very successful high school basketball career and received All-City honors for after he helped Manley get a 12-0 record. He was also named as the Prep Player of the Week by the Chicago Tribune and Gatorade after Head was able to record 25 assists in a game against the Chicago Wells. During his senior year in high school, Head was named into the All-State First-Team and into the Wendy’s All-Star Classic Game.
Head decided to play for the University of Illinois. For the first two seasons, Head was under Coach Bill Self and was not able to start in that many games. After Coach Bruce Weber took over during Head’s third year, Head became a full-time starter. During his final year in Illinois, Head was able to improve significantly and was named as an All-American. He was a candidate for the Naismith Award and finalist for the Oscar Robertson Player of the Year Award.
In 2005, Head was drafted by the Houston Rockets and was even named into the All-Rookie Second Team by the end of that season.

Head also dished out 677 assists (2.2 apg), made 244 steals (0.8 spg), and blocked 34 shots (0.1 bpg). Born in Chicago, Illinois on November 26, 1982, Head stands 6-3 and weighs 185 lbs. He attended high school at Manley Career Academy in Chicago, Illinois and college at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was drafted by the Houston Rockets in the 1st round (24th pick, 24th overall) of the 2005 NBA draft.
