Luke Theodore Walton was born on March 28, 1980 in San Diego, California and is the son of NBA Hall of Famer Bill Walton. Luke primarily plays small forward for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. He weighs 235 pounds and stands 6 feet 8 inches. He was the namesake of his father’s close friend and former teammate Maurice Lucas.
He went to University of San Diego High School as a high school student and graduated from the University of Arizona with a major in family studies. While in college, he played basketball for the University of Arizona Wildcats under Lute Olson’s coaching. He joined the 2003 NBA Draft and was drafted as 32nd overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round. He has been playing with the Lakers in his entire career to date.
Though he suffered an injury early in his career (2004), Walton played wonderfully in the 2006- 07 season, establishing a career high in minutes. He was part of the Lakers team that bagged the championship in 2009 and 2010.With his father having 2 championships in his own jacket (1977 and 1986), they became the first and only father and son pair to have won multiple championships in their basketball career.
Outside basketball, he owns a restaurant in Manhattan Beach, California and made a cameo role in the soap opera The Young and the Restless.
