Luke Walker is a former American professional baseball player. He was born in DeKalb, Texas. Walker actively pitched for two teams in the Major League Baseball; the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Detroit Tigers.
He was listed at 6 ft. 2 in. and 190 lbs. He both batted and threw left handed. He started his pro career in the Major League Baseball after he was signed in 1963 as amateur free agent by the Boston Red Sox. However, Walker was not able to make his debut with the Red Sox. Instead, he was drafted December 2, 1963 by the Pittsburgh Pirates from Boston in the 1963 First-Year Draft. Walker made his professional debut with the Pirates on September 7, 1965.
Walker’s most productive season came in 1970, when he finished 15 to 6, while his ERA of 3.04 and 7.1 hits per nine innings ranked him as third leading pitcher in the National League. The following year, in 1971, Walker went 10 to 8 for the 1971 World Champion Pirates with an ERA of 3.54. After his eight year career with the Pirates, Walker was purchased by the Detroit Tigers on December 5, 1973 from Pittsburgh. He had his final game on October 1, 1974
