Luke Anthony Hochevar is a professional baseball player who hails from Denver, Colorado. Born on September 15, 1983, he attended Fowler High School where he became a National Honor Society member and was awarded as the 2A Player of the Year.

 

He played collegiately in University of Tennessee where he struck out 154 batters in 2005 and posted a 15-3 record with 2.26 ERA. Because of his great performance in college, he was awarded as the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year and the Roger Clemens Award.

 

He turned pro in 2002 after the Los Angeles Dodgers drafted him in the 39th round of the 2002 MLB amateur entry draft. However, he opted to attend college and was redrafted by the Dodgers in 2005. He still did not play in the national league and played for an independent league instead. He was again drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2006 and finally signed with the team.

 

A right-handed batter and thrower, he had a 1.13 earned run average in the minor league. He made his first MLB appearance on September 8, 2007 for the Royals. He posted a 6.55 ERA in 2009 and recorded 7-13 for that season. Through June 13, 2010, he posted a career statistics of 18-30, 5.68 earned run average and 240 strikeouts.
