About Luis Polonia Memorabilia & Collectibles

 Luis Polonia was a former player in the Major League Baseball who hails from Dominican Republic. He was a left-handed batter and thrower who started playing baseball as a kid and continued to practice his skills as he grew up. He started his professional career with the Oakland Athletics of the Major League Baseball who picked him in the 1984 season. He was signed by the team as a free agent and made his very first appearance on the said league with the Athletics. His Major League Baseball debut was on April 24, 1987, when he served as an outfielder for the Oakland Athletics.

 

Other teams he joined were the New York Yankees from 1989 to 1990 seasons and the California Angels from 1990 to 1993. He also had a one year stint with the Atlanta Braves with which he had one of his two World Championship Series win, the other being with the New York Yankees.

 

In 1996, Polonia became part of the Baltimore Orioles and in 1999, signed with the Detroit Tigers. He stayed with the team until the 2000 season.

 

Playing also as a designated hitter, he had his final game in the majors on October 1, 2000 for the New York Yankees. His career statistics include .293 batting average, 36 home runs and 405 runs batted in. He also made 321 stolen bases in his entire Major League Baseball career.

Over 12 seasons, he played 1379 games, hit 36 home runs, drove in 728 runs, and stole 321 bases. Born on December 10, 1963 in Santiago, Santiago, D.R., Polonia stands 5' 8" and weighs 155 lb. He attended Santiago City (Santiago City, DO) high school. His debut was on April 24, 1987 and he played his final game on October 1, 2000. Over his career, Polonia made $10,489,000.
