Playing for the Detroit Lions as a former American Football cornerback, Lem Barney was born on September 8, 1945 in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Barney spent his college years studying in Jackson State University. In this university, he powerfully became a three-time All-Southwestern Conference star. Barney was said to be the supernatural and one of the greatest players in town. He has joined the National Football League of the Detroit Lions in 1967 as a second-round draft pick. He was awarded in the year 1967 as AP defensive Rookie of the Year.
Being selected in 1992 to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he achieved over 100 yards each of the returning kickoffs and punts. In 1967, when he was honored to be the defensive rookie of the year he went on to seven Pro Bowls leading to the acknowledgement of Lem Barney signed Lions Riddell chrome mini helmet w/HOF'92. But his achievements did not stop there because on 1999 in The Sporting News he was ranked number 97 in the list of 100 Greatest Football Players.
