Larry Walker is a former American professional baseball player. He was born in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. Walker played as right fielder for a few teams in the Major League Baseball; the Montreal Expos, Colorado Rockies and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Walker is 6 ft. 2 in. and 185 lbs. He batted using his left and threw with his right. He started his professional baseball career after he was signed as amateur free agent by the Montreal Expos in 1984. Walker made his professional debut with the Expos five years after he was drafted on August 16, 1989. After he was released by the Expos, Walker signed as free agent with the Colorado Rockies on April 8, 1995.
Walker's career season came with the Rockies in 1997 when he got a batting average of .366 with forty nine home runs, a hundred and thirty RBI and four hundred and nine total bases making him the first Canadian player to win the Most Valuable Player Award that year. Next year, in 1998, Walker won the Lou Marsh Trophy as Canadian athlete of the year. Walker was inundated by injuries for his last several years in his career, but nonetheless continued to be productive. He had his final game on October 2, 2005.
