Lawrence Alexander Izzo is a professional football player who was born on September 26, 1974 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He attended Broad Run High School where he spent his first years as a high school student and then later on moved to McCullough High School in Texas. In McCullough, he became a football varsity athlete and was named as the Chronicle’s Two-Way Player of the Year. He went to Rice University where he continued his football career and played for the school’s varsity team for four years. He finished his college football career with 301 tackles, a school record. He was included in the All-American Honorable mention.
He was signed as a free agent by the Miami Dolphins after he joined the 1996 National Football League and became undrafted. While with the Dolphins, he had his first Pro Bowl appearance in the 2000 season.
In 2001, he became part of the New England Patriots and was part of the team’s Super Bowl games in 2001, 2003 and in 2004. He also represented the team in the AFC in 2002 and 2004. He spent a total of 14 seasons in the National Football League. Among the recognitions he received is the Ed Block Courage Award in 1998. At present, sources say Izzo is a free agent.
