Los Angeles Lakers’ forward Lamar Joseph Odom was born on the 6th of November 1979 in South Jamaica, Queens, New York. Odom’s father was an addict on heroin and his mother died when he was only twelve suffering from colon cancer. Mildred, his grandmother, was the one who raised him.
Odom played with Christ the King Regional High School during his high school’s first three years. Then, he transferred to Troy, New York’s Redemption Christian Academy and to New Britain, Connecticut’s St. Thomas Aquinas High School. In 1997, he was hailed as Parade Magazine Player of the Year and in his senior year, he became part of the All-USA 1st Team of USA Today.
