Kurt Warner is a retired American football player. He was born in Burlington, Iowa and took his college education and played college football at the University of Northern Iowa. Warner played as quarterback for numerous teams in the National Football League; the Amsterdam Admirals, St. Louis Rams, New York Giants, and the Arizona Cardinals. He was listed 6 ft. 2 in. and 214 lbs.
In 1994, after finishing his college career, Warner received an invitation to try out for the Green Bay Packers' training camp, competing for a spot against Brett Favre, Mark Brunell and former Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer. However, he was released before the regular season began. In 1995, Warner signed with the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League. After he led the Barnstormers to Arena Bowl appearances in both seasons, Warner was named to the AFL's All-Arena First-team in both 1996 and 1997 seasons.
In the 1998 seasons, Warner finally signed in an NFL franchise, the St. Louis Rams, and was allocated to Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe. His backup at the time was another famous quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, Jake Delhomme. Throughout his pro career in the NFL, Warner garnered numerous awards, to name a few were; being five-time Pro Bowl selection, three-time All-Pro First-team, Super Bowl XXXIV MVP and Super Bowl champion XXXIV with the Rams, and Bart Starr Man of the Year Award. On January 29, 2010, Kurt Warner announced his retirement from the National Football League.
